Hi,
First off, i have MQSeries 5.1 (for windows NT) running on NT4.0,
We need to upgrade from NT4, to Server 2003, however cannot upgrade MQ Series 5.1 due to contractual requirements.
I have installed MQ Server fine on the new windows server, and the base installation completes with no errors, however when I try to create a queue manager, i get the notification 'creating queue manager ***' however, it seems to hang here (will not continue, even after a good 12hrs - went home and came back, still going).
I reboot the machine, and afterwards it appears to have started creating the queue manager, however does not appear to have ever finished (missing bits and pieces).
I have tried many times, and re-installed the OS many times, i get the same thing happen each time.
Im lead to believe the MQ 5.1 will run on Windows 2003, as forums indicate others who are running this setup,
Does anyone have any suggestions (aside from upgrade from the very very old 5.1, i would if I could). |

I've got to ask what requirements. Nothing really to do with your problem, but morbid curiosity insists I ask. Or has the client insisted on confidentiality.
(Running v5.1 the client should be wearing a paper bag on his head!)

I didn't think v5.1 was supported on anything past Win2k. Which is not to say people havn't convinced it to run on Win2003. I know people who've convinced v6 to run on Vista, and that's not supported either.

Walk away? Whatever the client's paying you to work on v5.1, it's not enough.
Given that you've reboot, reinstalled Windows and done the usual black magic, in your position I'd verify there's sufficient system resources and proper permissions on the disc.
No, let's be honest, in your position I've have either whacked the client with a trout and walked out, or had him committed under Section 5 of the Mental Health Act & installed WinXp & v6 while they were strapping him into the jacket. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
