in the recent 'what you like to see in x version of MQ' thread, the subject of SOX came up:

SOX. Ugh. Help us deal with SOX.

Sarbanes -Oxley Act can cover such a wide area. It would be good to read members' comments on MQ specific meanings/requirements/specs that they have been tasked with to find out or do something about ...... .

Here are some of the links you might want to check out:
http://www.sec.gov/rules/final/33-8238.htm

You might want to have your lawyers have a look at this...
Text of the law (pdf)

here is a lot of information I did not bother to sift through

http://www.google.com/search?q=sox+requirements&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

I think that the real trouble with SOX is that it puts the burden of adequate financial controls on the organization. Now any changes to the IT and environment may fall under that description if you are a financial institution...

Enjoy

To me SOX = being able to tell who's doing what. The things we are told to do under the umbrella of "We'll we gotta do it cuz of SOX" are sometimes silly.

Being able to tell who's doing what with an MQ infrastructure is important, SOX or not. MQ should be able to audit changes to itself better than it does now, IMO. If we can than use that capability so satisfy some dopey SOX related edict all the better.

You may have kicked-started a whole case for a new version of WebsphereMQ. I can see how some of what SOX is asking for could be done. But, it will be interesting to see what all would be able to be done with non-persistent traffic. IMO, it may be difficult to put any type of SOX-type imposition without adversely affecting performance.
