I have a QM that has the issue detailed in this APAR:
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg1IY87626

I have begun the process of testing that fix pack before pushing it out to production.

I have two questions:
(1) Is there a workaround for this? I cannot think of one.

(2) Will the cluster workload exit skip a channel that is Indoubt?

Questions that would have to be asked to IBM Support.

IY87626 - RESOLVE CHL ON AN AUTO CLUSTER SENDER CHANNEL ( IN INDOUBT STATE ) FAILS with xecL_E_INVALID_PARAM.

There is no workround. You could install a fix for the APAR. I think IBM have them available for a variety of platforms and maintenance levels. Alternatively, you could install 6.0.2.2 which contains a fix for the APAR.

The easiest way to resolve a channel is to let WMQ do it by starting the channel. Is that not possible?

The workload exit will not ignore an indoubt channel, but since such a channel will either be STOPPED or RETRYING it will not be chosen ahead of a channel which is INACTIVE or RUNNING. See one of the many posts which discuss the workload balancing algorithm.

We did let it go for that weekend, while we researched and tested the patch.
In the interim, the indoubt status was resolved by MQ.

Self correction. Amazing.
