Hello,
i must migrate in a few weeks on z/Os System an MQSeries 5.3.1 to Version 6. On July 2007 I have migrate on HP Unix 11.0 also MQSeries 5.3.05 to Version 6.
My question is : is there some specifics things on z/OS System or is it the same procedure that on HP.
My procedure was to update the Queue Managers, so to remove MQSeries 5.3 and install Version 6 with Refresh Pack and restart all the Queue Managers to update them on V6.
Perhaps is there an link that describe in details the migration for z/OS system
Thanks for your response |

zOS is entirely different. From everything else.
If you haven't done it, you likely aren't qualified. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

The z/OS architecture has nothing in common with HP specifically, Unix generally or indeed any other operating systems. It is unique, singular and I would doubt you've be able to achieve anything without a level of access the system programmers of the machine will be loath to give you. It's not the process you describe following for HP because z/OS & MQ on z/OS works differently to the MQ of the distributed platforms.
If you've no experience of z/OS (and I suspect you have not because you've asked this question) then the damage you could cause is potentially immense; not just to MQ but to the system generally (imagine giving root access on HP to a Windows person).
Get the z/OS system programmers to perform this work. At a bare minimum discuss what you're attempting with them; I suspect you'll need them anyway to find out what high-level qualifiers they used for the previous version and what jobs/tasks/etc include the MQ libraries. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Moved to z/OS MQ Forum.
steiner,
Check out Chapter 3 of the z/OS MQ System Set Up guide, and the MQ Migration Information manual, bot available here:
http://www-306.ibm.com/software/integration/wmq/library/library6x.html
I hope you have access to a very freindly, very patient and very knoweldgeable z/OS Sys Admin, as well as a lab environment top practice in. The task assigned to you is daunting in the time frame proposed. _________________ Peter Potkay
