The forum has always automatically put you on a watch list for a given post whenever you post or respond to a post. But, last week, I got one of those email messages referencing a post that I had viewed, but not made any reply to. What would cause this? _________________ IBM Certified MQSeries Specialist

In an almost related vane, is there a way to monitor a topic (or forum) without posting? _________________ Dean Keister |

I got one or two of these last week as well. I figured they were doing some maintenance and thru bad timing a couple of alert emails got duplicated. _________________ Peter Potkay

You are the first 2 reported cases. It should not work that way. There was a fair amount of updating and changing going on between 21st and 26th, so perhaps as Peter suggests ….
If you would please, forward me those via email and I will ask one of our guys to look into, match the timing with work they were doing. Also, indicate in your email whether in your profiles ‘ Always notify me of replies: was and still is set to Yes or to No’ |

seem to have found a reason, at least an explanation can be given:
the new post done in December 07 had a
[moderator]Ref to This discussion chain[/moderator]
done in Feb 07 in which several members did have a post/reply to
both tliechen and Peter were part of the original thread's posting/reply to group + a few others as well.

In the box near the bottom of the page you can click "Watch this topic for replies". Then you'll get an email message whenever something is added to the topic. |

I had split the topic there and changed the new one to reference the old chain.
The addendum to the old topic did not seem relevant enough to the old chain so I chose to split and make the addendum a new topic. Sorry for any inconvenience. _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

Okay.... But, I'm not sure if it should really do this, though, since the watch was never put on the latter post and they are distinct topic numbers. I don't recall this ever happening before the changeover. Is this a new "feature"? _________________ IBM Certified MQSeries Specialist

This must have happened because (I) the moderator split the topic thus changing it.
As such you should have received an alert. Possibly on both the old and the new (split) topic. _________________ MQ & Broker admin |
