Hi There,
I know WMQ 5.3 support from IBM had been expired. We still are running WMQ5.3 in our production. We have bought our WMQ license from SBM one of the sister company of IBM in Saudi Arabia.
My questions is that should we still renew our license from SBM or since it is not a supportive version any more, we can cancel it now.
Even if you renew it, I'm not sure what kind of support we get from SBM.

You need to have a license to legally run the product.
Renew the license and you should have no problem upgrading to version 6.0.
Check with your IBM rep but I believe the license is per product not per version ?
Anyway for all licensing matters you MUST contact your IBM/SBM sales Rep. 
And if you need support for MQ 5.3 you need to negotiate that as well with the IBM/SBM Sales Rep. (I'm sure it is possible @ extra cost)

The extra cost to extend is very inflated, we have a few groups extend and the cost was fairly big and we have one group that is extending again and it is still a big cost....over 10k and I think they only have 4 servers covered in that....AIX. The extensions seem to run on a quarterly basis. |

So if you're not willing to pay the extra cost upgrade to version 6.0!
