Can someone give me some reasons why a sender channel will periodically go into retry even after going thru the standard stop/reset/resolve/start sequence with the receiver channel? When I see the channel in retry I will do the reset sequence and the channel will function correctly for an unspecified time and then sporadically I see tha the channel is in retry again.
I'm trying to see what is causing this over and over again. The sender channel is on an IBM mainframe and the receiver is a Windows box. Both platforms running v6.0.

The QM error logs will give you the exact reason why. We could probably come up with a couple of dozen reasons none of which apply to your case. Make sure you check the QM error logs on both the sending and receiving sides. Well, on the z/OS side check out CHIN's output.
You shouldn't be resetting / resolving channels unless you have specific error codes telling you the channel is in doubt or that it has sequence # issues. _________________ Peter Potkay

Thanks. I'll take that approach, but I'm not given access to z/os logs. I'll see if i can get that info from the z/os tech staff. As for Windows, I'll check those logs.
