Hi all,

Are there any rumours around the above like a version 6.1 or 7.0?

There are often rumours.
Anyone who knows the facts about any unannounced products would not be allowed to discuss them here.

I just need plan product upgrades for 2008 and hence it will be nice to know what the plans are for WMQ.

If the IBM website has insufficient details, contact your IBM sales rep.

As has been said, anyone else who knows will be bound by non-disclosure.

V7 2009 is what I have heard while visiting an IBM office locally. No qtr or month given, just 2009.

If not a new version/release of MQ, there will be preventive maintenance and corrective service.

Rather than focusing on what it will be named, perhaps you should plan for the inevitablity of product upgrades - just build it into your schedule.

Your user-community (managers, programmers, end-users, auditors) should be comfortable (accepting, tolerant) that software and hardware have lifecycles, and that IT is doing the right thing to continuously improve.

Hi,

Well, last week I was told about a vendor "preview" session regarding MQ was happening in Hursley, UK during Feb 2008. Certain vendors have been invited. Sadly, Capitalware was not invited! I wish I knew how to get on IBM’s WMQ vendor short list.

If past history is any indication, there will be an WMQ beta after the session.

Product upgrades are normally not a pain, it is the new versions that version that brings with new functionality.

Roger , thanks for your comments, that is what I was wanting to hear, most of the other WebSphere products have to V6.1.

@Roger: as far as I know, there's a combined WebSphere and CICS event in Hursley every year (Jan - Feb timeframe), so that's not really a good indication.

@Emileke: as several posts already said: people who know are not allowed to disclose this info... but a new version of WMQ may be nearer than we think.

Also, Roger... you should be able to talk to your PartnerWorld sales representative to find out how to plugged into the outreach programs that Hursley runs.

The one I was told about is NOT a yearly event.

It is essentially yearly. There have been a couple of years when it's not happened, and it's not at precisely the same time every year, and the range of content has varied, but it is considered an annual event.

no invitation here either, my "local" contact is in another "loop"
so if you find out, let me know as well?
I'll return the favor if I run into something useful...
