IBM is pleased to announce the release of a new SupportPac which specifies a way to describe WMQ applications as SOA 'services' using IRI's (internationalised resource identifiers) and WSDL (Web Services Description Language).
The SupportPac consists of two specifications:
- An IRI Specification - defining addresses for referencing WMQ queues and topics; and
- A WSDL Binding Specification - defining extensions for WSDL. The WSDL extensions describe a WMQ application in terms of its connections, the queues/topics it uses, it's message exchange pattern (request-response or one-way), and the qualities of service and message formats it uses.
WMQ Service Definitions can be created for WMQ applications which use either SOAP or native (non-SOAP) messages.
By following these specifications, you can write WMQ Service Definitions which catalogue your applications in a standard, machine-readable way, and create (or take advantage of) tools which use the Service Definitions to aid the development, management, and monitoring of WMQ applications.
You can download the specifications from the link below.

The authors would be very interested in your views and comments on these specifications. |
