We have a QSG with one QMGR per LPAR and a DSG with one DB2 per LPAR. We asked us now what will happen if DB2 system fails with our shared inbound channels. I can read the following in the SYSTEM-ADMIN GUIDE: ".......any shared channels that are running continue normally until they end or have an error, when they go into retry state."
If our shared inbound channels will then go once into retry state and later on new messages arrive on the sender systems, what will WLM now do?
a) Does WLM recognise that DB2 is not available on this LPAR and therefore the shared inbound channel will reconnect to another LPAR (based on WLM policies)?
or
b) WLM checks all the LPARs and recognises that the LPAR where DB2 is down is most under-utilizedl. Therefore WLM tries to reconnect our shared inbound channels to this LPAR. Of course unsuccessfully because DB2 isnt' available.
