Is there any established statistics for qmgr/or messages /per day to number of administrators required?
Similarly, is there any statistics for WAS - number of installed server/application to the number of administrators requried?
Thanks a lot |

Do a search. There was a thread here a couple of years ago where a bunch of us posted how many MQ Admins we had and how MQ servers we took care of. _________________ Peter Potkay

I know you can have IBM come in and do a high dollar analysis to figure out what kind of resources you should have.
I have worked in several environments with the same amount of MQ servers and 80-100 and seen in one place that 2-3 was a good number of admins, only for vacation and sick time purposes. The environment was very basic and stable and it was not unusual to go 1-2 month without receiving a trouble call, or any type of request. (BORING) Currently I am in a same size environment that is constantly changing and trouble calls almost daily (99% of the time not MQ related...usual the Applications problem) and with 4 people we feel the crunch. I worked in on environment where there were 9 servers and 3 MF qmgrs and we had 12 people to cover 24/7 on site and for that environment it was a good fit.
I think the amount of people is really going to depend on stability, amount of changes, coverage needed. and how much the company is willing to hand out for $upport. |
