Hi all,
Few weeks ago, I was convinced that a "cold start" was only for z Qmgrs.
I have discoreved that an Undocumented Cold Start program is provided for WMQ for iSeries :

Is there also any undocumented program to achieve the same result with Unix / Windows platforms ?
PS : I will be in Vienna Symposium next week. Anybody to share a beer  ?

Hmmm, I've never seen a program for this.
You can do it manually on UNIX and Windows but you should not do it unless directed to do so by IBM Support.
There is potential for damage and you will loose or gain messages. Cold starts should not be taken lightly. Basically, you should only do this if you cannot restart the QMGR any other way.
I will not describe the Cold Start steps.

z/OS MQ System Admin manual describes the cold-start procedure (not a program): http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv6/v6r0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.mq.csqsaw.doc/csq84ah.htm
From the manual: Performing a cold start enables you to recover your queue manager and your object definitions; you will not be able to recover your message data.
You can achieve the same thing on mid-range platforms by reinstalling MQ software, re-creating the qmgr, and loading your object definitions. The same thing can be achieved on z/OS by re-creating pageset (queue-holding datasets), log and bootstrap datasets. Not a pretty picture in any case. |

I'm glad to see that you limited yourself with only IBM approved and supported methods...
