Hi!

Ive been looking in this document:
http://publibfp.boulder.ibm.com/epubs/pdf/amqcac09.pdf

Reading chapter "Migrating to WebSphere MQ version 6.0"

All that the chapter describes are:
Stop your qmanager, stop listener etc..
Uninstall version 5.3 supportpack, CSD etc..
Install version 6.0...And have fun.

Now one simple question will my qmanagers remain?? Or will i have to "save" (MS03) them before migration?
It dosent realy describes what will happen to them and their objects in this document.

Best regards!

On Solaris, they remained. We had an MS03 just in case, and the first step of our upgrade was to stop MQ and backup up var/mqm/ You'll need it to roll back if you have to.

In general, on all platforms, uninstalling MQ is not the same thing as deleting your queue managers.

Also, in all cases, the more people who use MS03, the happier I am.

Thx for the good answer!

in /var/mqm/java/lib there are the com.ibm*.jar files.
There are "new" files for v6.0 for example com.ibm.mqbind.jar is no longer and are included in com.ibm.mq.jar.

When i install ver6.0 are i suppose the "new" files are included under the same path? I have this consurn(spelling?) when thinking of my J2EE apps.

Typically those files are NEVER under /var/mqm/java/lib. (Could this be a symlink?)
They should be under either /usr/mqm/java/lib (AIX) or /opt/mqm/java/lib (SOLARIS)... or <MQINSTALL>/java/lib (M$Win)...

Enjoy
