I hate to sound like a crusty old coot, but does the link for Mobularity.com/usLuvCompatibility really belong on a site like this? It should be noted that most people use this site in business environments and it is not appreciated to have such banners flash up on most of the screens. I dare say anyone that wants to find such a site will know how to do it and does not need guidance from here.

You get much more interesting banners than me - all I get are monitoring software & disc utilities....

These are Google ads that show up on the site. we have no control whatsoever what Google place here. We use their search engine and we allow ad traffic to come to our site, no more than that.

These ads are reviewed by Google editorsand are reguarly monitored that real junk spam postings and ads that you see elsewhere are not sent out.

I think it's good for our image that they're sending dating ads to a strongly tech site.

If they think we're relevant to that advertiser's target market then I for one feel new hope and a sense of optimism about my sad, lonely life.

In your case, Vitor, it may be applicable.

to be honest, it doesn't bother me. For one thing, most of the time I do not even notice the ads.

For another, we also gets ads for aix monitoring, disk space handling, server management, application management, mq training, ...... and I guess every now and then other google things can show up.

lastly, what ads do show up for you is likely to be different than what I see or Vitor or xyz sees. Google algorithms decide what ads go where, even location like country, city and local providers come into play.

Fortune is a relative term. I leave that remark be. no hard feelings.

So you see dating sites and I see disc utilities. Hope turns to ashes.

Hi,

Go get Maxthon, install it and turn on 'Ad Hunter'. All of the ads will be gone.

Maxthon uses the IE engine but has its own GUI display. I've been using it for a while and I really like it. (Especially when I'm at client sites.)

Regards,
Roger Lacroix

Thanks, Michael!

Roger, I'm still intrigued by what you said about Maxthon. I'm going to check that out too!

The only consequence that I've noticed in adding the entry to the hosts file is that the Back button no longer works as I was used to on most of the screens, since http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/... entry is now at the head of the Back-list once or twice, depending on how many google ads were attempted on that page. But since there are usually links to the previous level on most of the pages here, I think it's livable. Of course, you can always use the drop-down on the Back button to get to where you want to go.

Maxthon has lots & lots of features but the 4 that I like are:
- Ad Hunter
- Tab Browsing
- Saves / retrieves 'favorites' to the same location as IE.
- Groups - one click to open several web pages.
