End of service for WMQ V5.3 was Sept 28. Is a WMQ V5.3 client connecting to a WMQ V6 queue manager still supported? If customer calls IBM Support Center reporting such a problem, will they get support?

NigelG posted a comment recently that MQ clients are supported based on the level of the qmgr they are connected to.

So, v5.3 clients are still supported as long as they're talking to v6 qmgrs.

v5.3 queue managers are not supported, AFAIK, regardless of what other qmgrs they are connected to.

I believe it works like all their other licensed products. You can buy support for the out-of-support versions if you're willing to fork up extra money for it.

I will bet a beer at WSTC that if you call for support, they will tell you to download the V6 client and use that since it is free and supported.

Why wouldn't you keep your software up to date? So you can be told to do so when you open a PMR?

None that I can point you to.

Applying patches to clients is not much fun, though, IMHO. It's a bit cleaner to install a full 6.0.2.2 client than to patch a 5.3 one and keep records of the patching, and the procedure for re-patching in case of a rebuild of the client.

Just IMHO
