Hi all,
I want to know if my understanding is correct:
To use XA with jms applications (client connections) I need to install ETC in the same machine as the client app, even though MQ server is installed on the same machine. In short, it doubles the investment on MQ ( Qmgrs + ETC)?
How can I check whether ETC is installed on the machine where the qmgrs are running
TIA,
Regards,

Or rewrite the apps to use a bindings connection. But yes, only the ETC supports XA over a client link.

However you'd check for installed software on the platform in question (which you don't mention). I tend to ask whoever's administering the machine what they've installed as a first move. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Thanks Vitor. I want to know if there is a mq way to check it out, like any command or check for any libraries present within the MQ Installation Dir etc..
If I contact the sys admin team , it will take at least 2 days to get a response . My platform is windows

AFAIK dspmqver doesn't show the ETC separately but I'll stand to be corrected on that.
It should show as a separate installed item in the Add/Remove Programs box. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Not quite. If you read all the notes carefully it says that if you use WAS 6.x as transaction manager it can do XA (don't remember if this is new to MQ 6.0.2.2 Resource Adapter) without the ETC over a client connection. However if you use something like JBoss you will need the ETC... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |
