Hi everyone,
-I have to cluster 2 IBM websphere message brokers servers with MSCS.
-I have managed to setup and enable the broker to failover to each other (between server A and server B).
Hence, I tried to use a pub/sub program to test the broker. I manage to test successfully on server A (i.e. able to pub and sub). However, when it failover to server B, the program is unable to sub/pub. No errors were shown in the event logs.
Does anyone encounter this before?
Or what are the possible problems?
Thanks in advance for all your time.

Hi jefflowrey,
What I mean is when the queue manager and message broker failsover to server B, I cannot publish/subscribe anymore.
It seems to be unable to connect to the queue manager or broker.
I am using the same program which can publish and subscribe successfully when the queue manager and message broker was in server A.
May I know the possible problems?
Thanks for your time.

What does it mean, "fail to connect"?
How do you know?
Does your program produce an error message?
What is it?
What does the documentation say on the error message?
What information did you provide your program, to know where the broker and the queue manager are?
Is that still correct when the broker and queue manager have failed over to the other server? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

The program works fine when the broker and queue manager fails back to server A.
The same set of queue manager and broker works fine in server A, but not in server B.
Hence, my question is simply to ask what are the possible problems given this kind of situation.
Thanks

Broker log?
System log?
Qmgr error log?
JMS Error messages?
Linked exceptions and such?
SYSTEM.JMS queue depths?
Publishing queue depths?
Subscription queue depth?
Is the pub/sub process even running after failover? _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

May I know what do u mean by "Is the pub/sub process even running after failover?"
I have check the event logs, and broker event logs. There are no errors shown.
May I know what are the steps should I do to zoom in to the problem?
Thanks for all your time.

Are you reading the responses we are giving you?
You want a list of possible causes... there are LOTS of possible causes. Any one of the potential error messages that the WebSphere MQ product could produce is a possible cause.
Any one of the potential error messages that the Event Broker product could produce is a possible cause.
There are hundreds of each of those. IBM has helpfully provided you a list of them, in the documentation on both products. Well, okay. Event Broker doesn't come with a list in the Info Center - there's an HTML file in the product directory that is a list.
Based on our own experience, there are some things that are more likely than others.
If you take the time to read the questions I've asked, and try and answer them - you may find out what the cause is.
If you take the time to read the questions that fjb_saper has asked, you may find out what the cause is.
If you do nothing other than keep asking us for help, then you will never find out what the cause is. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
