All,
Actually this is more directed at IBM WMQ Hursley people but anyone can pipe in.
The IBM ISV & Developer Relations team are now asking me when Capitalware's solutions will support / be ready for AIX v6. (i.e. dates and timetables)
Since, MQSSX and MQAUSX rely on a supported queue manager, hence, I need to know when WMQ v6 is going to be supported on AIX v6.
If I install WMQ v6 for AIX on an 'AIX v6 beta server' and then apply Fix Pack 6.0.2.2, is this combination considered to be supported by IBM? Will it work?
The AIX v6 team tell me that AIX v6 is binary compatible with AIX v5.3. But does this mean I can install WMQ v6 on it? What about Smitty? (or Smit) Is WMQ v6 compatible with the updated Smitty?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Regards,
Roger Lacroix

I doubt there will be any announcements of support for WMQ on AIX v6 until after AIX v6 is released.
I doubt anyone will comment publicly, or likely even privately, until there is an offical announcement about WMQ support.
Would you care to publicly name a specific date for when CapitalWare will support MQ vNext? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Sure, within 6 months of release.
I'm not looking for specific dates from WMQ Hursley just general info.
Also, what about WMQ v6 on AIX v6? Yes? No? Maybe?
I feel like a dog chasing his tail. The AIX v6 team wants information from me but my answer is dependent on WMQ Hursley answer that may never come!

Tell the AIX team the same thing: I'll support AIX v6 within six months of a supported version of WMQ on AIX v6.
Honestly, the AIX team will have a much better chance of getting information on what the release plans are for WMQ on AIX v6, than you will, given that I expect that any such information is still IBM Confidential.
Of course, I haven't checked the WMQ Support page to see if it has any announcements or etc. So maybe something is public, and I haven't looked. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
