I am deploying a package on multiple servers. Each server has it's own MQSeries installed with it's own qManager & channel names. I want to be able to "read" the qManager name from each server rather than change the properties file on each server. Can I do this? I thought that maybe I could check the port that MQ is running on and sort of say "hey, who are you", but I have been unable to find evidence of this. Please, any suggestions would help. Thank you! |

Can you run the dspmq command and parse the output to get the qmgr names? |

I'm a little confused. Could you give a little more detail? Thanks! |

If the servers only have one Queue manager one crude way would be to look in the <mq_install_dir> for the directory which is not @system. This would be effective for most of the OSes but would expect common install dirs on all servers with the same OS.
e.g. Program Files\MQSeries\Qmgrs - NT, /var/mqm/qmgrs - Linux etc |

Cannot you work with the default queue manager of the server?
If this is the case then you do not need to know the queue manager name.
If your objective is to fill in a property file, then you just set the queue manager name to blank and the application will connect to the default queue manager of the server where it resides. _________________ Nicolas Maréchal
