I wanted to view the paticular activities, so I created work items list with filter. However the resulting output was process instance list. How that's possible? I tried both web-client and thick client, and both got same result, and list appered in the work items category. I was using workflow last 7 years, but this is first time seeing this, is this something known bug?

Thanks in Advance.

This is not something I have experienced. I suspect you have created a Process Instance list inadvertently.

I know the process instance list look like.
The List has the work item list attributes.

Note:
The process appeared on the work item list is sub-process.
I wanted create work item list in paticurar activity, but the sub-process list list came up on the list.

Thanks

IF I am understanding you correctly, you are saying that you have an entry in your worklist that represents a running subprocess.

Again, IF that is correct, then this is working as designed, as you must have a Process Activity someplace that caused this subprocess to come into existence. If this is the case, you can create a worklist and filter out the Process activities, have a look at the "Activity Type" filter criteria.

jmac,

I tried filter for "Activity Type", but it was not one of supported filter column. However I was able to filter by process instance name using template name with wildcard charactor.

As you know running sub-process appear in parent instance name, and activities within the sub-process appers in sub-process instance name ( sub-process plus system generated $AA..... ), so I filtered sub-process name plus wildcard (*) for process instance name.

Anyway, thank you very much.

I am not sure what you are looking at but Activity Type is MOST DEFNITELY valid for Worklist filters. Maybe caps, maybe underscore between, but it is definitely supported.

I am not trying to write a program or customize for this via API.
Are you sure the activity type is selectable column?
It does not appear in the filter dialoge in thick client.

Thanks

The fat client does not necessarily have all of the possible filter options specified. If you look at the doc you can see how to do this. You can definitely create the list that you are looking for.

If you are using the Web client, click on the "Filter criteria syntax" link. That will pop-up a small window that lists all of the syntax options. The "Assistant" button will only let you choose a filter specification that does not require variable text.
