Hi ,
I am relatively new to MQ world. However currently I am given the responsibility to upgrade the MQ servers running on sun solaris .Our MQ servers talk to our business partner MQ servers which is of same version .We have 3 MQ servers version 5.3 CSD 4 in cluster .Also we have MQ IPT server 1.3.2 which serves as a rev proxy to connect to the business partner network MQ server .
My question is what will be the roadmap to undertake if I plan to upgrade the server to release 6.0.2 on solaris environment .What may be the pitfalls if any for the migration since our business partner will still be on the same version 5.3 on solaris ?
Any suggestion will be great ...
thanks ,

MQ 6.0.2.1 can talk with MQ 5.3.0.4.
In a cluster, it is advisable to upgrade the full reposity QMs to 6.0 before any partial repository QMs. But it is technically possible to upgrade the partials first.

Cluster queue managers are designed to partake in clusters with queue managers running at different versions, which is why a staged a migration is possible. It is advisable, but not required, to migrate full repositories first. If all full repositories are migrated before partial repositories, new features will be exploitable by all queue managers running at the new version. Queue managers at the back-level version cannot take advantage of new version features, and will appear in the repositories of new version queue managers with the default values for any new version attributes. |
