All,
I just have migrated MQ from 5.3 CSD 5 to 6.0.2.1 on a server, using the custom installation and only installed server and file transfer.
It has 6 queuemanagers on it.
The server is a Windows 2003 server.
On my workstation I have already installed MQ 6 and I'm using the MQ 6 explorer to manage our MQ environment.
I already had an issue starting the prepare websphere MQ and it came with authorisation errors. I solved this using amqmsrvn.
Now I can't make a connection in MQ explorer to this queue. It comes up with an error: "An unexpected error (2063) has occured. (amq4999)"
I can't find any related information back here or on google.
The queuemanagers on the server are running fine and a ping on a channel to the affected queuemanagers is also succesfull. The channel can also be started.
It is just the connection in MQ explorer 6 that isn't working.
Any ideas? |

There have been other posts in here about similar issues, that were resolved by correcting the PATH. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Path settings are fine on my workstation and majbnd05 is loaded.
Before the migration the connection worked fine, now it doesn't.
We have another queuemanager which is migrated to version 6.0.2.1 and the connection to that queuemanager works fine as well.
I think it has to be something on the server side. |

2063 is a security error.
It suggests an authorization problem with the user running MQ Explorer or the user set in the MCAUser on the svrconn you're using to connect to the qmgr. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Yes, I got the same error when trying to save the queuemanager using saveqmgr or trying to access it in a windows prompt using runmqsc.
Looks like I can't access the queuemanager with my logon account.
An amqoamd doesn't work either, same reason code.
The domain admin group is part of the MQM group, so that shouldn't be the issue.
The prepare websphere MQ wizard error is back again.
Issue solved.
If I look in the error files of a queuemanager I try to connect I can see the following error:
AMQ7227: Websphere MQ encountered the following network error: The RPC server is unavailable.
I will check with the network or Wintel department if they can do anything. |

That means that the qmgr can't connect to the windows security registry (local or domain).
At a minimum, you will need to restart the qmgr. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
