Hi,
I have upgraded MQ to 6.0 on AIX for some performance reasons I have to degrade to MQ 5.3.
Is it possible?
Thanks |

There should be no performance problems with v6.
There should only be performance improvements.
You will have to completely uninstall everything, and rebuild your queue managers from scratch, in order to migrate back to v5.3.
You will be much better off trying to resolve your v6 problems, with the help of IBM Support if necessary, than you will be if you go back to v5.3. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Thanks for replay,
It's our internal business decision to go back to MQ 5.3
If I stop the Qmgr and remove the 6.0 packages and then I install the 5.3.
Can I see my old qmgrs.
Thanks |

Well on first start post-upgrade, channels got migrated into the qmgr, and log records may have been written which 5.3 cant understand. MQ (distributed) does not allow rollback - the only "solution" here is to go back to the backup you took just prior to the upgrade and use that
Of course, given the 5.3 support position (ie lack of very shortly) you might ask the benefits of that decision rather than resolving the issue at hand. As you say, its your own decision to make, but its putting off the inevitable.
Out of interest can you comment on the "performance reasons"? |
