I'm curious about the spec. of code conversion of WMBv6.

Who converts incoming messages to Unicode, which is the internal data style within message flows?
MQInput node? If so, I know now WMB version 6.xx has own code conversion tables separated from WMQ, so I guess it may be achieved by new mechanisms, not MQGet-convert.

Who converts and when incoming messages are converted?
If there's anybody who is familiar with this, please help.

Many thanks in advance,
Cheers,

I'm curious as to why you are asking this question.
What is the particular problem you've been hit with?

Well, there are some characters which can't be mapped to unicode and vice versa.
I wanted to know about potential problems might occur with 'new' WMB code conversion tables.

Imagin that WMB is running on AIX and one of the broker QMgrs has different ccsid from unicode, for example, EUC.

When the broker receives a message in UTF-8, is it directly 'eaten' by the message flow without code conversions? or temporarily converted to the codes based on ccsid of the QMgr, and then, converted again to unicode to be processed by the message flow?

I'd like to understand this point.

my understanding is that it acts like a client on ccsid 1200. But this is really only my understanding and somewhat simplistic.

In fact if you have a cobol copy book defined and the message is not set up for conversion, my understanding is that it will parse it first and then translate the different elements to 1200 before displaying any....

This is solely my own understanding. No liability whatsoever, use at your own risk.

Well,, then, how can I learn such an internal spec. of WMB?
Are there IBMers in this forum?

Anyway, thanks for your help, fjb_saper.

Cheers.
