We have a requirement that dictates we change to an alternate channel if the primary channel uses up it retries. Given that I can only use Perl or shell scripts or MQSC commands, does anyone have a suggestion for an approach to this?
There isn't much documentation in the way of message retry exits. Do all exits have to be in the form of a C executable? Can it be a Perl program? Can you perform MQSC commands from a message retry exit?
Here's my best idea so far: Since I don't know C, or how to use a retry exit, run a shell script that runs MQSC commands and redirects the output to a file. Then check the output via a Perl program for the status of the channels to determine if a channel is stuck on RETRYING or BINDING or whatever and if so, stop that channel and start the other one.
I have the same requirement, and would be interested to hear from anyone who has written an exit to monitor channel status in this way.
There is another thread where this was discussed (http://www.webmq.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2674) on this site, that you should read.
It would be very helpful if someone could provide a sample outline of how best to achieve this - and maybe even some sample code?...
