Hi,
I've two QMs running on Tru64 Unix and are connected to each other via distributed queuing.
I wonder if I have to start
- channel listener
- channel initiator
- trigger monitor
- channel
on both side ?
Is there overlap between these commands, e.g. if you already started a channel, you don't have to start a listener and initiator ?
I noticed sometimes channels are automatically started. How to config to allow or disallow this ? what's general guideline regarding this ?
Thanks in advance.

channel listener - yes, it needs to be running, and you can either start it manually or create an entry in /etc/inetd.d (on unix)
channel initiator - if you want to start sender channels automatically, this should be running. I think on 5.2 and above, the initiator is always running if the queue manager is. The initiator watches the SYSTEM.CHANNEL.INITQ for trigger messages. These trigger messages are created whenever messages are put on transmit queues that are configured correctly.
trigger monitor - only used if you want applications to be started automatically whenever certain conditions arise on a queue. For instance, if the queue is empty and a message arrives, or a certain number of messages are on the queue.
channel - if you want to communicate between the queue managers, then you'll need a sender and receiver channel on each end. _________________ Brandon Duncan
