Hello,
( 1) I read from the manual (Sys Admin) on how to recover MQ when both copies of BSDS are damaged. I have queries:
Steps:
1. Rename the datasets and define a replacement for it -> Understand
2. Locate the BSDS associated with the most recent archive log dataset and copy it to the replacement dataset.
-> How to do it? Can archive log dataset copy to BSDS? What utility to use?
3. Use the print log map utility to print the contents of the replacement BSDS. -> Understand, however, shouldn't the new replacement dataset contains nothing?
4. Use the print log records utility to print a summary report of the active log datasets missing from the replacement BSDS and to establish the RBA range. -> Does it meant to be -> use CSQ1LOGP to print the logcopy1&2 and use CSQJU003 with CRESTART?
5. Use the change log inventory utility to update the missing active log dataset inventory in the replacement BSDS. -> Does it mean to be -> use CSQJU003 with CRESTART or CHECKPT?
6. If dual BSDS datasets had been in use, copy the updated BSDS to the second copy of the BSDS. -> Understand
7. Restart MQSeries. -> Understand
( 2) Pls advise. Thank you.

From the manual:
Use the Access Method Services REPRO command to copy the BSDS from the archive log to one of the replacement BSDSs you defined in step 3.
does IDCAMS ring any bell?

you just reloaded it from the most recent archive!
your questions 4 and 5 - i think they are out of range somehow. the manual provides a clear step by step approach how to recover in Steps 5a to 5f. You have to follow (or at least check) them all.
Which step exactly is not clear to you? (i am refering to the MQV6 System Administration manual, section "Recovering the BSDS" - Page 99) _________________ Regards, Butcher |
