Hello everyone,
I have issues with ICS Web based System Monitor and I appreciate if anyone could give me new ideas to solve this issue.
Let me put together all the points.
I have ICS 4.3.0.3 on Development box up and running for a long time. I wanted to set-up web based system monitor for this ICS Dev server. So, I installed WAS 5.1 and configured it exactly according to the ICS installation manual.
I can open the admin console on this box and I can see two App. Server instances running viz., server1 and ICSMonitor application servers.
I also see ICSMonitoApp enterprise application under Enterprise Applications.
Now, when I open the login page http://<host_name>:9081/ICSMonitor/jsp/login.jsp
1. The login page shows up fine.
a. When I click on browse, it does nothing, the browser window flickers and nothing happens.
Current active servers are not found.
b. When I enter the server name, user-id and pwd(I know ICS server instance name, user-id and password) and click on login. It does nothing, the browser window flickers and the page gets "reset " and nothing happens.
2. There is no error log generated and nothing is there to trace what really is happening.
3. There are no issues with PNS and the ICS on the machine runs without any problems.
I have run CosNameServer_dump.bat and it shows the list of objects connected to PNS. But, when I try to telnet to the host on port 14500 (PNS port) from command promopt like telnet <hostname> <port>, it just shows a blank screen.
Here are some more details:
JVM Properties:
Application Servers --> ICSMonitor --> Process Definition --> Java Virtual Machine --> Generic JVM Arguments -->
-DORBNamingProvider=CosNaming -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBClass=com.ibm.CORBA.iiop.ORB -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialPort=14500 -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialHost=xxx.xxx.xx.x -Dcom.ibm.CORBA.Debug.Output=stdout
Custom Properties --> Dashboard Home -->
C:/Progra1/Websphere/AppServer/installedApps/
xyzserver/ICSMonitorApp.ear/CWDashboard.war
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Voyager,
I too tried this quite some time ago and was not successful.
I had the same issue you reported, even after follwoing the same exact instructions from the Infocenter... I tried little hard and gave up.
Good luck for you and hopefully some one more experienced will share his knowledge regarding this issue. |

I have successfully installed WAS and created/configured ICSMonitor App. Server and ICSMonitorApp on this server.
Now, I am trying to use one single WAS installation (ICSMonitor App. Server) and monitor multiple ICS servers
in the network. Can anyone please give me an idea how to do this?
Thank you in advance! _________________ voyager |

Hi Voyager,
We are running WBSM with WBI 4.4 for a while under tomcat 4.1.27 and it works fine (now with Failed Event Monitor it's a great tool for administrators without WBI skills).
The only difference I see with our settings is that we set -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialHost=localhost, I would try this instead of the IP address for the ORB lookup.
If this is still not working with WAS give a try with tomcat, it is lightweight and in this case I could help further: the documentation is not complete and there is a couple of tweaks to do that they don't explain to make it work.
Hope this helps,
David |
