You might want to read up on ESB and SOA. |

Better start with some MQ tutorials available.
Go through Benefits of it's,it's features.
Then you will get some ideas.

For a dissertation ??
I don't think your dissertation should be done around a software, but around a concept or theory, such as SOA as sebastianhirt suggested.
I'm not sure what ur institution expects, but do they expect you to provide a working model ? If they do, how do you expect IBM to let you have the software for free in any case ?
What is ur majors for MS ?
Regards. |

Yes i need to present a working model...
licences wont be an issue as we hv developers licence for the pdts and i can use the same products...

Perhaps something more general to begin with, such as messaging and queuing model vs. data file model. |

Hi,
Maybe its just me, but when I was in University (many moons ago), a dissertation was supposed to high-level concepts / theories and how they could be applied to real life.
Writing explicitly about MB and MQ would be boring and way too business focused (and probably focused on the company you are working at).
If you want to do SOA or ESB (boring), simply get the IMPACT 2007 CD of lectures and read all of the SOA and ESB sessions and you would probably have enough information.
It is far better to jump up into the clouds:
- talk about messaging or guaranteed messaging and not MQ
- talk about transformation and not MB
- talk decoupling of applications and not SOA
What about real clustering of MQ (if you want to get product specific) and not the fake MQ clustering that IBM implemented in MQ. i.e. 'Clustering for MQ' as the same way you do Oracle DB clustering.
And what about grid technology? Could grid technology be implemented in MQ or over MQ?
What if your transformation engine was broken into grid nodes and the grid nodes communicated via MQ?
What about the concept of decentralize transformation? vs centralized transformation engines? Does 10 decentralized transformation nodes work faster than 1 monster engine?
What about using MQ to wire deploy your application? i.e. you create a queue and a process in MQ then your complete application gets transmitted from server 'A' to server 'B' without you doing anything.
What about autonomous applications in MQ? Borg collective anyone?
Write about (wild) ideas / concepts / theories and how you would go about implementing them rather than writing a Business Case Analysis.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

Roger Lacroix

Thanks.
That's what happens when I get a good cup of Columbia coffee. I'm full of .... ideas, yah, that's the ticket.
Ideas, I have lots of them - time to build prototypes, is what I'm lacking.
