I have posted a saveqmgr question to Wayne but thought I'd throw it out for the general group while awaiting his response.
Lately we've had several instances of a queue full event for queue names like SAVEQMGR.469B861320A64002 (the part after "." changes each time). I am assuming this is a dynamic queue created and used by saveqmgr. I am further assuming that the large number of objects (around 1100) or authorizations (around 7000) is causing saveqmgr to push the dynamic queue over its limit.
Can I further assume that if I increase MAXDEPTH on SYSTEM.DEFAULT.MODEL.QUEUE the likelihood of this queue full event goes down?
This is the latest version of saveqmgr 6.0.3 against WMQv6.0.2.1 using -F and -Z to save both configuration and authorization data. |

Hi Bruce,
what happens if you increase default maxdepth from 5000 to 10000 ? _________________ Michael

I have done that and am waiting to see if the problem recurs. The event doesn't pop up every night (cron job at 02:30 runs this saveqmgr). I'm out of the office all next week so I'm hoping in the meantime that increasing maxdepth on system.default.model.queue does the trick. |

Of course, one of the nice things about MS03, unlike some other Cat2 support Packs, is that it includes source.
So if you felt like wading through Wayne's C code, you could find out for yourself what's going on.
But, yes, I'd assume that the problem is that you've got a very big qmgr, and are filling up the dynamic replytoqueue. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
