Do you mean number of channels? Or type of channels? What exactly?

I seem to remember being told there's an upper limit of the number of objects on a queue manager of 65,535 but that was a few versions ago.

I think you'll lose the ability to control and administer the queue manager because there are so many objects defined to it before you'll hit that limit.

Unless of course you're actually asking how many connections you can make to a queue manager, which is a totally different thing and a significantly lower number.
