Dear all,
my company adquired another company together with all it's IT infrastructure. The point is that the company adquired uses biztalk as the ESB and we have Websphere message broker.
During this first part of the merger we need to connect BZT with WMB to have minimum impact on what its done so i am looking for the best solution.
I believe that the best solution is using MQ, since is native on WMB and there is an adapter in BZT for it, and plus it solves transport and connection problems for which MQ is designed for. Now that the plot thickens i have found the following problems:
- the BZT adapter requires that the Queue Manager is on a Windows Server machine (ours in on AIX 5.3).
- The other posibility is that a second MQ machine is installed and used as an intermediary between the two. This is an expensive solution and not the best one.
- Another posibility is somehow conecting WMB with MSMQ wich conects naturaly with Biztalk. Has anybody done this before?????
to date, we haven't been able to make any of this work.
any ideas/suggestions/solutions/new aproaches will be greatly apreciated.

Along with a raft of other stuff. Most of which indicates you've got problems and/or a large software bill. 
You don't say what version of WMB you've got, but you might achieve something with a Java compute node, if MSMQ supports Java. I know nothing about the product except to keep it well away from me!

The BizTalk adapter for MQ, with a local qmgr, is going to be your most scalable solution, I think. It should also be supported.
Another possibility is if you're using MB v6, and BizTalk/MSMQ talks JMS... you could use the JMS nodes in MB v6.
But I don't know if BizTalk speaks JMS.

My WMB version is 6.0 running on AIX 5.3
mmm, you are both right. I have a problem AND a huge software bill (not to mention harware bill since i need somewhere to host the soft).
I would like to try and avoid using MSMQ as you say, but it was a posibility and i didn't want to rule it out in the first round.
I would also try to avoid conecting both ESB using JMS (and/or Web services) since it would work fine for one conection, but in the near future there will be lots and i don't think i can give support to this kind of flows and code. plus since there is a link between the two datacenters i will have to "code" a way to save messages in case the conection fails. (tough to maintain and give support).
Sounds like the MQ in the middle is the only solution.... i have to find out if i can spend money in this.... my boss (and the one who has to pay) will NOT be happy about this....
If anyone has any other ideas (even in any other directions) they will be more than welcome.

You could configure a single flow that uses JMS nodes and maps that to MQ, then the rest of the flows all use MQ as normal.
But then you're basically writing your own BizTalk adapter...
