Hello!
Our client has a production environment (call it A) and about a month ago they exported the runtime DB and imported it into another host, where they had previously built up the same production environment (call it B).
A is in every day use, B is recently not used.
After executing the cleanup server (manually) on B machine, the record number of PROCESS_INST, WORK_ITEM, BLOCK_ACT_INST, PROCESS_ACT_INST, PROGRAM_ACT_INST etc. tables decreased dramatically (more than 80%, because the last run was quite a long ago).
Than, we executed the cleanup server on machine A and the result was almost the same, except that the PROGRAM_ACT_INST record number decreased only just about 10%.
Has anybody have seen similar like this?
What is the explanation the the difference??
Thanks,
Liquid

Are both of these systems at the exact same version level (including fixpacks). I seem to recall there was a fixpack a while back that did something to the PROGRAM_ACT_INST cleanup. _________________ John McDonald

I'll ckeck it.
By the way, I know it's not the proper way, but can't we delete the content of there tables (or just the content of the PROGRAM_ACT_INST) table manually with sql, where the record status is deleted? I guess, it will cause inconsistency in the RT DB, isn't it?
Thanks,

I do not know if this would put the RTDB in an inconsistent state. I always use cleanup server, not sql to do deletions. _________________ John McDonald

DONT'T DELETE RT DB CONTENT MANUALLY UNLESS INSTRUCTED BY IBM SUPPORT!!!
It will definitely cause inconsistencies and in worst case make your DB unusable. In either case you will loose support from IBM. If you have 'garbage' in the DB that is not removed, move to the latest Service Pack and then retry. |

Ok, thanks, my question was just theoretical according to the manual deleting.
Meanwhile we saw that the service pack are different on the two machine, so, we try that way.
