This is same project as I mentioned in my previous post. One of the node is MF (ZOS). The first thing I tried to do is add mf qmgr to MQ explorer but I could not. Later when I went to the mf mq person saw, there was not system.def.svrconn channel.
My understanding was mq is similar to different plateforms. I am not sure they might have taken that channel out or mf mq does not have svrconn channel?
I think again, we can administer the mf qm with mq explorer, if this true, if yes, how can I connec to ? I mean when there is not svrconn channel.
I could have looked at the documentation, but this is what I really need. I appreciate your suggestions,
thanks a lot |

The MQ Explorer requires a SYSTEM.ADMIN.SVRCONN channel be defined on z/OS. Did your z/OS admin deleted the SYSTEM.DEF.SVRCONN channel? |

Only if you want to make a client connection to it.
Which would also require the client attachment facility.
One can also talk to zOS from MQExplorer indirectly. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Bruce/Jeff,
I know basically what it requires to remotely administer mq in distributed plateform- a server conn channel, command server should be running in the destination server, and SYSTEM.MQEXPLORER.MODEL.QUEUE exist/is defined in the destination mq queue manager.
My basic question was, does mq for zos have system.def.svrconn channel? When we looked at, we could not find it. So I am wondering whether it is not there or someone might have deleted for security puropose.
Also, does anyting more require to administer zos queue manager from MQExplorer?
Thanks a lot |

Jeevan -
If you can make any kind of client connection to the zOS queue manager, using any SVRCONN, then you can probably manage it using that svrconn from MQExplorer.
Not all mainframes will allow any client connections to be made to them. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
