I was trying to change "MaxChannels" value on a QM
(under Windows XP with SP2, MQ is v 6.0.2.1)
using MQ Explorer
and to my surprise
(I have another machine with MQExplorer running OK)
there is no "Channels" entry in the Properties of the Queue Manager.
What can be the reason for such a strange behaviour ?
That machine had MQ Client prior to installing MQ Server on top of it ...
Thanks. S. |

Could it be that the qmgr you were trying to do the change on is running under Unix? (client connection) _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

No, mr Saper, I am sorry to say both machines are XP.
The MQ Server is on an old HP-Kayak hardware, with XP.
SP2 was just installed when I changed from MQ Client to MQ Server.
The MQ Client machine is a T42 with also XP, full patched.
I also have to say that this MQ has other problems with the Explorer ...
The local Queue Manager can NOT be accessed as "local"
from the MQ Explorer - the queues and channels were not displayed.
Just the name of the MQ, but no drawing under it, no "objects tree".
So I had to configure it as "client connection", gave "localhost(port)"
and the queues and channels are displayed ok ...
I shall try "strmqcfg -i" and "strmqcfg -c"
that I have read on another thread ...
Thanks. |

Solution :
Missing PATH entry to "\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere MQ\java\lib"
Cheers. |

Also, you really need to change MaxActiveChannels, and not MaxChannels. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Jeff - I bet a dime you know it, but I'm gonna say it anyway.
When you change "MaxChannels" (using MQExplorer)
autoMagically "MaxActiveChannels" gets the same value !!!
Yes, it happens only at Windows platform.

While that's convenient, it's not something I would write processes to depend on... _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

No, you are (again) right - you'd better not to rely on such features.
But my actual problem has been solved ("No Channels TAB")
and I had to dig DEEP into MQseries.net fora to find the solution ...
I feel good tonite ... |

And as such it could not load the required dll for server connections.... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |
