We have an AIX that is at ML 4 :

[root@abc123]:~> oslevel -r
5300-04

We have to upgrade to ML 5.

What is the correct way to know if MQ and/or MB
requires a upgrade also ???

S.

You should be able to apply MLs to AIX v5.3 without requiring any upgrades to MQ or Broker.

You can use the normal commands that come with MQ and Broker to find out what versions those are running at, to find out if you should apply maintenance (my rule of thumb is anything that is two fix levels behind should have maintenance).

Thanks, Jeff - I know the levels are quite OK,
and they are quite independent of AIX level ...

But I was asking for "the correct way to do it" ..
I mean, all was ok (aix 5.3 ML 4)
the AIX upgrades
and we need to know
IF SOME MQ or MB upgrade IS MANDATORY ....

Thanks. Sebastian.

Well, I'd apply maintenance to those levels of MQ and Broker myself.

But I'm not aware of any fixes in the ML5 of AIX v5.3 that require MQ or Broker to be at a specific level, or vice versa.

You should be able to apply any ML to AIX v5.3 without requiring any maintenance to MQ or Broker...

Of course, Jeff, I do trust your words ...
... but I would like to find any URL (to show it to my client ...)
where it would say

>>> if you go into AIX ML nnn
>>> then it is mandatory to have MQ at CSD ppp
>>> or MB with Fix qqq

I guess/suspect that some time ago
they DID have such a requirement from AIX into MQ/MB ...
and dont want such a surprise ... again.

Thanks for your patience, Jeff.
