Hello all,

I am migarting WMQ from 5.3.0.11 to 6.0.2.0 on AIX 5.3 In the Quick beginnings doc its mentioned to check for the following support pacs if contact admin
MA0C MQSeries® Publish/subscribe
MA0R WebSphere MQ transport for SOAP
MA88 MQSeries Classes for Javaâ„¢ and WebSphere MQ classes for Java Message Service
MACS MQSeries Client libraries for AIX (64-bit)

I know for the MA0C support pack we will have the strmqbrk, endmqbrk commands will be added in the /usr/mqm/bin.
By which I can tell if the support pac is installed OR not.

But how to tell whether the other support pacs are installed.?

Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't have MAOC installed if you're using 5.3.0.11.

You shouldn't have MA88 installed if you're using 5.3.0.11.

You should *know* if you've installed the other two - because you would have had to have done it on purpose and would have consequently documented that it was done.

You won't know that you have MAOC installed by the existance of those commands, btw. It got rolled into the product before CSD 11.

Thanks Jeff for the prompt reply.

I overlooked that MA0C was made part of the CSD 8.
I din't knew that MA88 was also made part of the product. Thanks for the info.

For the other two, there's no proper documentation made here at the client environment to which I am new.
As the other two support pacs MA0R and MACS are also now rolled into the product.

It should not effect the functioning of MQ at 6.0 even if they are installed.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks

The problem is that these supportpacs provided files that are now part of the WebSphere MQ product, if they are on the system when you upgrade to version 6 and you subsequently uninstall the supportpacs there is a danger that files from the base product will be removed from the system.
