Hi,

Recently i have this strange problem. We have MQ5.3 CSD4 installed on AIX 5.2. Everything is working fine but now and then i got a warning (from TEC) that the command server is not running, when i check it is running. There is nothing in the qmgr log and no FDC files is created.

Could s.o. explain to me how this can happened and how i can avoid this from happening again? because i don't want to be call up middle of the night for this

thnx
Doan

Thx Vitor,

because we are planning for migrating to version 6 i don't want to spend any updates on this server.

But it is very strange because it never happen before only recently and not every day. Could it be that command server is not responding because of the load of messages?

Grz,
Doan

Wouldn't have been my first guess - don't immediately see why the command server would have a heavy message load. IIRC it's also a separate process on AIX so general queue manager load should not affect it.

Could just be the gremlin got his finger caught in the gears and brought it down? Or a false alert from the monitor?

No there should be no false alert, and i am using Candle (v3.6) for generating alerts for TEC. In Candle 1 event is created for all servers, and all of the servers are equally installed. Some servers has a higher CSD than this

Could it be that this problem caused by CSD4? which i doubt....

Maybe the command server just didn't respond to Candle in time, because it was busy with other things, and so Candle decided to claim that it was down.
