I am curious which place most of the MQ professionals use more: MQSeries.NET or the MQ Listserv?

I realize this may be a bit slighted asking on MQSeries.NET, but it seems to me that while the MQ Listserv was once the king of the hill, MQSeries.NET appears to have broader and deeper appeal to MQSeries pros.

Also, do the folks in Hursley participate in one more than the other?

I'm just trying to whittle down the places I use, as I don't have the time to use both as much as I'd like to.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

I use both, although traffic seems to be more continuous on mqseries.net

I notice that the list server went for three days without a single entry this week.

I scan it every so often (once or twice a week maybe) and sometimes it's possible to find a gem there.

I tend to use MQSeries.net, but keep an eye on the list server for interesting topics.

It does not seem to get the traffic it used to though.

I prefer mqseries.net but read the listserv as well.

I think the quality is about the same. Some of the more prominent people from hursley (like Paul Clarke) seem to hang around there more than here. But that is only IMHO

I find most subjects on the listserv get duplicated over here. And yes, I have noticed there has not been much traffic there in recent times.

that's because the same simple questions get asked here over and over and over.......

the list serve has "better" questions. The people that post to the list serve tend to research more before posting. Lots of Hursley IBMers lurking on the list serve as well. A suprising amount of mainframe experts are there that only pop in with responses when its z/OS related.

But there hasn't been a post in three days there. I think something is not flowing. I can't imagine no one is asking a new questions for 3 days. Usually by now someone's already sent a Is-This-Thing-On test post to the list serve.

there is a truth there and here questions are asked over and over, because most don't even want to find a manual...

on the other hand, I did see some posts recently of some on the listserver either because they fried their brains or thought they went senile...

so you may end up there with the same questions over and over again, just for a different reason... LOL

Hi all,

I read most of the message, which I got from Listserv - and when I have time, I also look to MQSeries.net.

The problem with MQSeries.net is the huge number of postings - I have to filter, which one I read and possibly answer.

An advantage of MQSeries.net is the possibility, to find some tools for download.

I would say, most of the MQ professionals use both mediums.
