Hi All,

Do I need to set the CCSID and encoding in the MQMD , if I am sending data to a AS/400 Queue Manager from windows 2003 server ?

I thought this was set automatically, unless you want to overwrite it with specific values...

AS/400 is EBCDIC, Windows is ASCII so convertsion will be done when the message is 'gotten' on the Windows side.

yes..michael u r rite....bt i am sending messages from Windows to AS/400
.
will AS/400 do the conversion or do i need to set CCSID/Encoding explicitly from my windows application.

set the MQMD format to string and use get on convert when getting the data on the as/400, if you are not using any 'special' characters you should be fine.

What if I dont set MQMD.format to string?
Will AS/400 accept my messages?

The message is alphanumeric,no spl characters.

Then MQ won't know that the data is String data, and won't know how to convert the characters.
