We have an AIX box that runs both Websphere and MQSeries and we are experienceing slowness. How much RAM is recommended to run MQSeries....or is there a formula? I've searched and can't locate any info.

It greatly depends on too many factors to list here. Some of the most important factors would be whether you are using persistent/non-persistent messages, syncpoint, the rate at which the queue manager is putting and getting messages and whether this rate is somewhat constant or experiences spikes. Average message size is also important. Also, every connection to the queue manager requires a certain amount of RAM (I think it's around 64K, please correct me if I'm wrong - and I think that's the value for MQ5.3, while earlier versions require more)...
Perhaps if you post some more details about your configuration we might be able to brainstorm and come up with some general rules of thumb to determine the amount of RAM needed. _________________ Brandon Duncan
