After upgrading my qmgr from MQ 5.3 to MQ 6 can I restore the /var/mqm
directory and all its subdirectories and expect it to function properly. |

If you want to be sure to preserve object defs you should use saveqmgr. In theory at least the objects should survive the upgrade process. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

before you upgrade, backup /var/mqm and /var/mqm/log
upgrade if all is fine there is NO need to restore anything...
if the upgrade failed and you want to go back, remove V6.0 install V5.3 and then restore /var/mqm...
your objects should survive the upgrade process, that's why it's called upgrade and not (re)installation. _________________ Michael

Alright, so I'm a little paranoid.

Well all the objects will be upgraded, which may result in changes to their internal structure. Nothing that should bother the typical user though (hence the comment "upgrade" not "reinstall" as my worthy associate correctly points out).
Nothing wrong with excessive backups though.... _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
