All the documentation I find on triggering in a QSG refers to triggering channels.
Does anyone know of any documentation that explains how triggering CICS transactions works from a shared queue in a QSG. We currently do this without queue sharing. We load the queues from a batch job, and we do not use the bridge.
We plan to have multiple instances of the CICS application running on different host in a CICSPlex, where the triggered transaction can be processed on any of these CICS regions.
Have you thought about having your own custom trigger monitor?
All it would do is pick up the message and copy it into the trigger monitor queue for the CICS you want triggered. So if you want to trigger in multiple CICS regions (3) your custom trm would pick up the qmgr generated trigger and put it on each of the 3 trigger queues.
Hope that is not too confusing...
You would need to run a number of additional checks though (see general trigger rules) etc...
I'm not a mainframe person, but I remember something like a trigger on a shared queue will trigger all instances.
Then it's a matter of where you have trigger monitors running to respond to those trigger messages... _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general.
