I am assigning tag value from XML data to TDS message. Broker throws exception "A string data item is too long for a fixed length field" since XML input is larger than a field defined in message set (It is a fixed length field in TDS format).
I am looking for some option that can truncate the input and populate the value in destination TDS field. I dont want to use substring , bcas we need to hardcode the length in ESQL then.

You are not the first person to ask for that option. Let me assure you that IBM is aware that this would be a useful feature.
