How to handle the handles?

Hi.
MQ 6, Windows server and clients.
We get RC 2017 MQRC_HANDLE_NOT_AVAILABLE with our MQ applications.
I instructed the developers to look for MQOPENs without MQCLOSE.
I'm afraid we have a "handle leak" somewhere.
Q1: Is there a way to monitor the #handles ?
Q2: Suppose an MQ-based application crashes. Does it free the open handles?
If not, is there a way to free the "orphans"?

look at MAXHANDS

In v6, you can disconnect application connections from MQ Explorer or using MQSC.

I still wonder.. if an MQ-based application crashes, does it free the open handles?
