Can anyone help me in this issue?
We're having this argument at work - In what order should a broker, a queue manager and the broker database be stopped in order to make it "best practice".
My colleagues say 1. Broker 2 DB 3 QM, but since the command for stopping a broker can include the QM, then these two will be stopped and the DB will be up running. I say 1. Broker, 2. QM, 3 DB.
Does anyone have a clean answer for this one? _________________ / Boolean |

Broker relies on the QM, so you can't stop the QM first.
Broker relies on the DB, so you can't stop the DB first.
The QM doesn't rely on the Db, and the DB doesn't rely on the QM.
If you're using XA, then the QM *does* rely on the DB - but the DB still doesn't rely on the QM.
Best practice is your order, and reverse for startup.
But generally, don't restart the DB unless you have to. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

So then it's 1. Broker, 2. QM, 3 DB.
Thank's Jeff, I will use your answer in our internal debate. _________________ / Boolean |
