Hi,
I am using the MQ on mainframe and would like to convert EBCDIC message to ASCII message in the Unix platform. The message contains both double byte characters and normal characters.

The MQ setup on mainframe has the CCSID as 500 and the CCSID on the Unix box is 819. The normal characters in the message gets converted correctly but the double byte characters are not readable japanese characters. These double byte characters are however viewable correctly through the japanese emulator.

Please let me know how I can convert this full message in ASCII with readable japanese characters.

You will have to perform all of the conversion on all of the characters yourself, manually.

If you prefer to have MQ handle all of the conversion for you, you can do one of two things:
1) send ascii characters in one message and double-byte characters in another message
2) send double-byte Unicode.
