Hello,

We have a need for running the IBM WBI adapters (JText and JDBC) on Windows XP Professional SP2, but only temporarily.
I have found some information on IBM website but have not got a complete view.

Can anyone throw some light on this.

The resources I have found is:
Matrix: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=695&context=SSMKUK&q1=aix%205.3&uid=swg21209409&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&lang=en

JText adapter: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wbihelp/v6rxmx/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.wbia_adapters.doc/doc/jtext/jtext22.htm
JDBC adapter: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wbihelp/v6rxmx/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.wbia_adapters.doc/doc/jdbc_legacy/jdbc25.htm

Hi,

I have got a first response from IBM, saying that only the "administrative tools" are supported but not the runtime. the IBM guys will discuss it with TechLine. Then of course it's a Java application so it *should* run.

I will give it a try on my laptop and see what happens

I can now confirm that it's NOT possible to install them on WinXP. I did a quick test this morning and the Adapter Framework installs fine BUT the connectors fails (tested JDBC and JText) with the following error message:
"BIA01002: You have attempted to install IBM WebSphere Business Integration Adapter for JText 5.6.0 on an unsupported platform. Refer to the Installation Guide for WebSphere Business Integration Adapters."

EDIT: I've got the tip using the flags"-W unsupportedPlatform.active=false" to bypass the check. It's now installed and will try it out.

Right click on the Adapter setup icon, go to compatibility and select operating system as Windows 2000.
Yes, you can install and run them on Windows XP.
