We currently use MQseries 5.2 for os/390 and other platforms. I want to trigger a batch job on the OS390 side. I have looked through various documentation and read the groups and I haven't seen any example of what to do to trigger a batch job. I suspect the APPLICATION TYPE field of the PROCESS is set to MVS. But what goes in the APPLICATION ID, USER DATA, ENVIRONMENT DATA etc. Can you specify a PDS where a batch job exists and somehow specify the member in the PDS to submit? Or do you specify a jcllib and then a proc to execute? Any help would really be appreciated.

Hi Gery,
You have to have a trigger monitor running, which have the initiation queue open.
There are a support pack... take a look on it.
Typically on Z/OS installations you don't allow a "unknown" batchjob submitting some JCL in the production environment, normally this is done controlled using some tool eg. OPC.
The challange is to tell OPC to run a given application, eventually add on to the current plan, I seen the communication done by using MQAutooperator from BMC as trigger monitor, and then echo the trigger message after formatting it to the log for netview usage.
just my thoughts.... _________________ Regards, Jørgen
