Suggestion for forum developers: could you filter out views made by author? I usually log in when I browse forum, sometimes I don't check my mail to see if there is a reply, so I increase unneccessarily number of views. I want to see how many people viewed discussion, I would like to see which and when, too. So maybe you can provide this information to authors, anonymus views may be excluded. I know it might sound as privacy violation, because if someone is interested in discussion, he or she can post a reply. But abusals of this informations (unwanted contacts to viewers), can always be sanctioned. |

To be clear, I do not believe hdjur will do that either.
I just believe that, if that information is widely available, then someone will. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

You can always send an unwanted PM to any one participant of the forum, without having this option too, you can be warned not to do it again, too. You can also be friendlier if someone is trying to contact you. It might mean you are respected because of your previous efforts. It does not neccessarily mean someone is trying to exploit you. |

Most of the PMs I get from people I do not know are people either posting duplicates of what they have already posted publicly, or asking for additional information or help privately. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Did you ask phpbb to remove PM icon then? Cause people are sometimes confused. They see the possibility and use it without prior thinking about usual bonton, or does it apply to this concrete situation. They exchange few posts, and they think you know them, they don't think precisly to what extent P in PM, really means private or personal or whatever. I mean, of course they need help, in this situation especially they don't analyze meaning of the words.
Since PM option is still here, I'd say you didn't ask, or phpbb is just not flexible enough? I'll ask them to add some enhancements to a profile settings, so that everyone can adjust in his profile to which forum participants to give PM possibility. |

no it's not...
forum moderation is to keep the forums clean and ontopic, although i read most of the posts here, I can not see what people are PMing to eachother...
whether or not PM's can be sent is a general board setting, you can turn it off but then it applies to all users... _________________ Michael
